Dr. Tibor Navracsics graduated from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of ELTE in 1990 and received his PhD in Political Science from ELTE in 1999. From 2006 to 2014, he was a Fidesz Member of Parliament and parliamentary group leader. From 2010 to 2014, he served as Minister of Public Administration and Justice and Deputy Prime Minister. In 2014, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, and from 2014 to 2019, he was European Commissioner for Culture, Education, Youth and Sport.
Until June 2022, he was Head of the Institute for European Strategy Research at the National University of Szeged and Government Commissioner for the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture programme. He is a Professor Emeritus at the National University of Szeged, a Distinguished Citizen of the University and an Associate Professor at the Institute of Political Science, Faculty of Law and Political Science, ELTE.
