Barna Pál Zsigmond earned his law degree from the Faculty of Law at Eötvös Loránd University in 1996, after studying for a year at Uppsala University as a scholarship holder at the Swedish Institute. From 2001 to 2002, he worked as a director of background institutions at the Ministry of Education, and from 2002 to 2003, he served as head of department at the Office for Hungarians Beyond the Border. Between 2003 and 2010, he pursued a career in the private sector. From 2010 to 2017, he served as the head of the Consulate General of Hungary in Csíkszereda, Romania, with ambassadorial rank.
From 2017 to 2023, he was responsible for coordinating the activities of Hungarian diplomatic missions in the Carpathian Basin and ensuring effective support for Hungarian communities beyond the border as a ministerial commissioner at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Since 2018, he has been a member of parliament, actively participating in foreign policy processes. He served as the Deputy Head of the Hungarian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a member of the Legal Committee, as well as the Hungarian delegation leader to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and the Vice-Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly.
