István Stumpf is a Hungarian lawyer, sociologist, university professor, minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office in the first Orbán government between 1998-2002, and constitutional judge between 2010-2019. From 2021 he will be the government commissioner responsible for the coordination of the change in the higher education model, and chairman of the board of trustees of the Tokaj-Hegyalja University Foundation. His research interests are social movements and political parties, nomenclature, political elites, political socialisation and voter behaviour, constitutionalism, public administration and government policies, theories of constitutionalism and the state, fundamental rights, constitutional identity. Currently he is serving as the member of the Prime Minister’s Strategic Advisory Council.
