Dr. Gergely Németh has been the CEO of the Hungarian Defence Innovation Research Institute since September 2024. His appointment is intended to strengthen further the research development and military science pillar of the research institute, contributing to the overall transformation of the Hungarian Defence Forces, to the strengthening of the defence awareness of society. It also aims to develop the Hungarian defence innovation ecosystem's connectivity with European and federal systems and other international partners. Dr. Gergely Németh has over a decade of experience in NATO and Hungarian defence planning, defence force development and strategy formulation. Until 31 August 2024, he was head of NATO's Futures Group, which specialises in studying the future warfare and technology environment. Prior to this, he was Deputy State Secretary for Defence Policy and International Relations, where he led the development of the National Security Strategy and the National Military Strategy, among others. He has a PhD in Military Sciences. Also, he is a member of the World Economic Forum's Futures Research Group.
