Dr. Éva Ács is a hydrobiologist and Research Professor at the Faculty of Water Sciences of the Ludovika University of Public Service. She is the Head of the Hydrobiology Research Group at the National Laboratory for Water Science and Water Security and holds a DSc from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Her research focuses on diatom taxonomy using both classical and molecular methods, as well as ecological status assessment in line with the requirements of the Water Framework Directive. In this context, she is also involved in the national adaptation of DNA-based environmental monitoring and assessment systems.
Her methodological developments cover the phytobenthos community, the ecological assessment of watercourses and floodplains, and the development of systems for evaluating ecosystem services. A key aspect of her work is the study of phytoplankton and phytobenthos communities in relation to environmental adaptation, as well as the ecological impacts of climate change.
