The Disaster Management Central Orchestra has 25 members and operates in the spirit of the Hungarian historical and Central European brass band tradition. It participates in various fire brigade events, festivals and wind band festivals as a marching band. The tourist attractions of the capital and the country, such as the Fisherman's Bastion, Margaret Island, Buda Castle, Heroes' Square, Orient Express at the Western Railway Station, are the venues for the orchestra's performances.
The musical training of the members of the orchestra enables it to perform a demanding concert programme. It is therefore able to play the full wind band repertoire. In addition to the well-known works by classical Hungarian composers such as Erkel, Liszt and Kodály, the orchestra also prefers to perform works by contemporary composers, as well as popular operetta, musicals and dance music. More recently, since the availability of modern Western European and North American scores has become more accessible, they have also been favoured.
