Dr. András Gelencsér is a professor, certified chemical engineer, atmospheric chemist, and head of the Air Chemistry Research Group of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and, since July 2015, Rector of the University of Pannonia. His main research interests are atmospheric chemistry related to air pollution and climate change, including atmospheric aerosol particles. He was the first to identify the process of humus formation in the atmosphere. In 2014 he was awarded an Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic.
