László Öveges graduated in 1980 with a degree in architecture from the Faculty of Architecture at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. From 1980 to 1985, he worked as an architectural designer first in Budapest, then at the county planning company in Kecskemét, Bács-Kiskun. He served as chief architect of Kecskemét from 1985 to 1990, and again from 2009 to the present. His work as chief architect is guided by the principle of balance between individual and community interests, and the pursuit of proportion in architecture and urban planning. Between 1990 and 2022, he ran his own architectural firm, where he worked as lead designer. He has designed architecturally defining buildings in Kecskemét, Kiskunfélegyháza, and Baja.
He has been a member of the Association of Hungarian Photographers since 2007.
Awards and Honors: Pro Architectura Award (1992); Chief Architect of the Year Award (2018); Kada Elek Award (2019); Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary (2022).
