András Szöllősi-Nagy professor, a Professor at the Faculty of Water Sciences and a doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, has been a visiting professor at several universities abroad, currently he is the UNESCO Chair of Water Conflict Management. Szöllösi-Nagy joined UNESCO in Paris in 1989 as Director of the Division of Water Sciences and Secretary of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP). He held those positions for 20 years. His main research interests are stochastic hydrological systems, recursive forecasting algorithms, and the hydrological impacts of sustainable development and climate change. He holds a Dipl. Ing. in Civil Engineering, a Dr. Techn. (Summa cum Laude) in Hydrology and Mathematical Statistics from the Budapest University of Technology (BME) and a PhD in hydrology from the same university. He earned a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree in system science from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1991. In the same year he habilitated at BME. He had an active role in creating the World Water Council (WWC). He launched the International Journal of Water Policy. He was the co- (founding) Editor of the International Journal of Stochastic Hydrology and Hydraulics (Springer Verlag). He was also Editor-in-Chief of the Hidrológiai Közlöny (Hungarian Journal of Hydrology).
