Prof. Dr. Tibor Bíró, Head of the Institute for Environmental Sustainability. Between 2017 and 2024, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Water Sciences, formerly Dean and Vice-Rector of Károly Róbert College and Dean of Szent István University. He is currently the University Project Director and Technical Director of the National Laboratory for Water Science and Water Safety. He has 30 years of teaching experience as a university lecturer. He has mainly taught subjects related to water management and environmental management. From hydrology, agricultural water management, water resource management, and utility supply to water quality protection, he is skilled in teaching virtually the whole spectrum of water management. His research interests include adaptive water management, environmental assessment, water quality management and remote sensing. Among others, he is a member of the Committee for Soil Science, Water Management and Crop Production of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is Vice-President of the Hungarian Hydrological Society and Vice-Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Interdepartmental Coordination Committee for Disaster Management. In the course of his work in national scientific committees, he has been involved in solving and evaluating major water management and environmental problems. He has coordinated, among others, the aerial remote sensing project of the Kolontar red sludge disaster, the Hungarian research on the oil spill assessment in the Gulf of Mexico, and the aerial survey of the 2013 Danube flooding. Author of nearly 240 publications.
