Salah Omar has more than 30 years of experience in security analysis at both National and International levels in the fields of emergency operations, threat analysis, risk assessment and hostage incidents management, with an extensive knowledge of the Transnational Terrorist Threats. From 1992 to 2006, the most critical security situation in Somalia, he worked as a national security advisor to the United Nations humanitarian operations in Somalia. Later, he worked with the United Nations/African Union Peace Keeping Mission (UNAMID) in Darfur, Sudan, as a Field Security Coordination Officer, where he mapped the conflict in the Darfur region. He had extensively negotiated for civilian protection with the various Darfur rebel groups. Salah Omar also contributed to a research project focusing on the criminal networks operating illegal human smuggling and trafficking networks from sub-Saharan Africa through the Sahara desert and the Mediterranean Sea into European destinations. He had also participated a research project on theTransnational Security Threats the terrorists pose on the East and Horn of Africa regions. Salah Omar a graduate of Lafole University in Somalia in 1989 with a B.A. in Journalism and Political Science.
