Dr. Gergely Németh has more than two decades of experience in NATO and Hungarian defense planning, force development, and strategic policymaking. He is currently the CEO of the Defence Innovation Research Institute. Until 2024, he served as the head of NATO’s foresight group, which focuses on analyzing the future operating and technological environment of warfare.
Prior to this, he held positions as Deputy State Secretary responsible for defense policy and international relations, Deputy Director for Armaments, and Deputy Defence Counsellor at the Permanent Delegation to NATO, and also worked as a force planner in the Hungarian Defence Staff.
He is a member of the World Economic Forum’s foresight community and holds a PhD in military science. His research focuses on the factors shaping the transformation of defense sectors and on foresight studies.
