He earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2014. He worked as a lead electrical engineer and project engineer, and between 2018 and 2023 he was responsible for the operation of the medium-voltage electrical network at Bosch’s industrial site in Hatvan. He speaks English and German.
In 2024, he was selected among the top four candidates out of more than 240 applicants in the HUNOR – Hungarian to Orbit program, after which he participated as a reserve research astronaut in Tibor Kapu’s training and in the scientific preparation of the Ax-4 mission. Between June 25 and July 15, 2025, Tibor Kapu, as a research astronaut of the HUNOR program, spent more than 20 days in space aboard the International Space Station, while Gyula Cserényi supported the work on the space station from the mission control center in Houston.
In 2025, he was awarded the Commander’s Cross with Star of the Hungarian Order of Merit.
